Office compex Elementum
While in almost all large-scale projects the existing buildings are completely demolished before construction, the architects are taking a different approach with the "Elementum". Offices, restaurants and shops are being built on the corner of Paul-Heyse-Strasse and Bayerstrasse. The old Postbank building is being gutted for this purpose. Recyclable materials are separated from debris, and two-thirds of the building structure is also preserved. This reduces the usual amount of rubble, material requirements and traffic movements by construction vehicles by almost fifty percent. The end result will be a modern office complex with 60,000 square metres of space. A small city park is planned in the inner courtyard.
