Ecumenical church center
A multi-storey church centre was built on Willy-Brandt-Platz for Christian pastoral care. The three-storey building complex is entirely dedicated to ecumenism, uniting the Roman Catholic and Evangelical Lutheran churches under one roof. A free-standing church tower rises on its small forecourt. A very narrow alley runs towards it, which emphasizes architecturally what unites and not what divides the two denominations. The outer walls were treated with a thin layer of silicate paint, allowing the brickwork to shine through subtly, and the formation of a picturesque patina caused by weathering.
