Elisabeth-Castonier-Platz
The name of this square commemorates the German writer Elisabeth Castonier (1894-1975) who died in Munich. During its planning, a citizens' workshop entitled ’A Living Room For The Neighbourhood‘ was conducted, seeking to identify homely elements that could be incorporated into a public space. The result is a variety of design elements including floor coverings, benches, plants and a fountain that have been cleverly distributed across the square. The fountain, which is illuminated at night, has a water feature with seating around the edge, giving Elisabeth-Castonier-Platz a special atmosphere. Conifers and deciduous trees are placed in loose, informal groups to provide shade.
