The ‘Perlach Overflow City‘ was originally a restructuring concept; from 1967 to 1982, a satellite town with 21,000 apartments was built in the countryside, based on the principle of ‘urbanity through density’. For some years now this large housing estate, often criticized but popular with its residents, has been changing through new construction and renovation projects. From 2019, preparatory studies for urban redevelopment will be carried out in a large part of Neuperlach. An intensive consultation process will take place parallel to the planning. Neuperlach is not only waiting for its city centre to be completed, but also offers the opportunity for structural additions and restructuring in various places. It is important to continue to innovate, while maintaining the original urban planning concept of Neuperlach. Neuperlach is an area of action for Munich's urban development planning.
