Although Prinz-Eugen-Park is a new neighborhood,...
...there are many old trees. This makes Prinz-Eugen-Park a neighborhood with a lot of greenery.
During the construction period, care was taken not to injure tree roots.
The result was a unique mixture of old trees...
...and new timber hybrid buildings.
This aerial photo from 2019 shows the large stand of trees in Prinz-Eugen-Park.
Urban forest
We leave the Ecological Model Settlement and find ourselves in a park landscape in which the new city quarter is embedded. When it was built, great importance was attached to preserving the meadows and old trees of the former barracks site. A network of foot and cycle paths runs through them, connecting this idyllic biotope with the residential area. The original woodland extends well into the built-up areas. Green areas were created between the residential clusters that can be used for urban gardening, so fresh vegetables, flowers, and kitchen herbs can be cultivated free of charge. There are also roof gardens and spacious terraces.
