The entire Feldmüller Settlement between Tegernseer Landstrasse and the Heilig-Kreuz Church is a listed monument. Craftsmen, day laborers and small businesses built the simple, single-storey houses with a small garden or a courtyard, as places to live and work between 1830 and 1860. The former workers' settlement is unique in Germany. Between 1984 and 2005, the City of Munich supported the renovation of the houses with the help of the Herbergsprogramms - a special conservation initiative. They also ensured that these houses remained in the possession of Giesinger and Munich craftsmen. In spite of this, in 2017 the Uhrmacherhäusl or the watchmaker's house on Oberen Grasstrasse was illegally demolished. Since then, an initiative by local residents has been committed to its restoration.
