Bronze Sculptures, Theatinerstrasse 11

To decorate the portal of the former Hypotheken und Wechselbank, sculptors Elmar Dietz (1902 to 1996) and Roland Friedrichsen (1910 to 1992), working with the bank's management, designed a series of allegorical pictures entitled Reconstruction After The War in 1950. The two bronze statues of women and two statues of men symbolize the four pillars of society. The man with the scroll stands for intellectual work, the woman with the ear for harnessing vegetative powers, the manual worker with the compass for physical power and the rich woman for commerce and trade.
